Game servers are a hostile environment: spiky traffic, impatient players, and failure modes that only show up on a Saturday night. I keep them fast and reachable — provisioning, tuning, monitoring, and the unglamorous maintenance that makes "it just works" true.
Hey! I'm Santos!
I'm a systems administrator for game backends — I keep the servers players never think about fast, patched, and online, with a side of security work. The rest of my time goes to Minecraft server development and modding, which is more or less the same job with more creepers.

What I do.
The lighter half of my job is making sure the only surprises on a server are the ones players build. Sensible hardening, least privilege, and paying attention to the quiet parts before something forces me to.
# "light security work" means i read the auth logs so you don't have to.
My standing side project: Minecraft server development and modding. It's where I try the ideas that would be reckless in production. Details below.

Minecraft is the hobby that refuses to stay a hobby. Running servers for it means real capacity planning, real networking, and backups you actually test — with a player base that files bug reports by walking into them. Modding is the other half: reading other people's code, learning an ecosystem's conventions, and shipping something people play with. It's the most fun a sysadmin can have with a JVM.

The degree makes official what the terminal already taught me. The plan is to keep shipping while I study.
